Bridge On The River Kwai…

Published by bmmullen under Uncategorized

Colonel Bogey would be proud to hear CORP whistlin’ the whistle of a POW working to show the man who the man really is.  Breakfast Club be damned it’s a bridge we need to build.

http://home.comcast.net/~freewebman/war/ww2/bridge-river-kwai.mp3

The overload creek crossing is a wide mess of tangled rocks, flowing water, and corrugated metal.  We need to rally and get the bridge constructed to make this a proper crossing.  “If we give in now, there’ll will be no end to it”!

All right who’s in for a bit of bridge building goodness?  Food, beverage, and lot’s of fun are provided free of charge we just need you to show up with some sturdy footwear and a pair of gloves.  Meeting time looks like 8am at the Blue Mounds State Park shop.  If you are planning on coming please shoot at e-mail to Walt Hougas at hougaswd@netscape.net so we plan accordingly for food and beverage.

By the end of the day we’ll be ridin’ a sweet wooden span.  Madness!…Madness!

Another 12 Hours of Blue Mounds Success…

Published by garettkipp under Uncategorized

Thank you everyone who attended the 12 Hours of Blue Mound.  We had 54 individuals and teams with a total 71 people racing.   Numbers were down from past years, changing the date 2 times being a possible contributing factor.

Proceeds from entry fees and raffle ticket purchases will be used for future and present CORP projects, and a donation will be given to the Friends of Blue Mound State Park for general park improvements.

After 4 years this my last year directing this race. Next year Nate and Kevin will be taking over and I anticipate they will do an awesome job.  Thank you for everyones support and contributions that helped me with this race the past 4 years.

5 Days until the 12 Hours of Blue Mound

Published by garettkipp under Uncategorized

Only FIVE days until the long anticipated, once rained out, and twice rescheduled 12 Hours of Blue Mound.  Yeah, it took a while getting here but the weekend is fast approaching!

We’ll be setting up the course on Friday and anybody available is encouraged to attend.  Plan is an early morning start 7am so we can finish the work as early as possible.  I’m calling out a 6pm group ride to make sure the course is ready to roll.  What we need from you is a bike, some legs, and an hour or so of your time to give the course a test run for us.  Post test-ride beer and fire provided by CORP at a yet to be decided campsite.

Saturday morning the race kicks off at 8am.  CORP’s day starts about 6am.  We will need help with registration starting about 6:30 or 7:00am.  Once the riders are on course we will need additional manpower for timing, course marshalls, registration, and myriad other tasks.  Reply below or post a message in the forums if you can make it out and what time you are willing to help.

We should be running the same course as the last two years.  If you aren’t familiar it’s rocky, rocky, rocky, with a few roots thrown in for good measure.

Saturday evening after the race CORP will once again be providing beverages and fire at the yet to be specified campsite.  It’s post-labor day so plenty of sites should be available.  Bring your tent, a chair, andmake a weekend of it!
