Sautrday May 1st Cam Rock workday number 3

Published by Bcbear under Uncategorized

OK lets get fired up for the last big planned work day at Cam-Rock this Saturday! We have a lot of new things completed so far this year, but even more to finish up so that we can get riding it for the yearWe have more berms to build, some new re-routes to complete, new TTF’s for the Expert Woods, and I am sure you freeride guys have a couple of things planned I don’t even know aboutAs usual we will have free burgers N’ beer (or pop if you prefer?) at Heathers afterward to quench you thirst and appetite. Heather always treats us right, and don’t forget to throw some business her way when we you come back another day to ride.If the weather cooperates we will also get out and ride. It is always sweet to ride what you just built. I was amazed at the last work day how many people made a day of it…building…eating….drinking….socializing….riding….we just tell people it is a “work day”. Sounds like a lot of fun to meWe have had two fantastic work days at Cam-Rock this year thanks to all of you. I really appreciate all of the work you have done. Let’s finish what we started this Saturday and make it sweet for the upcoming riding seasonSee you at CR III parking lot Saturday at 8a. If you are coming later call my cell at 772.7833. Don’t forget some water, good working gloves (leather are best for thorny bushes), good work boots, and some water and snackage to keep you powered and working hard. And don’t forget your bike so you can get out for a ride. Kids are welcome as usual. I will have mine there and will prolly lead the Kid Crew again.

If you arrive late and the group has left already, we will be working at the big blue spot. Walk or drive to the far end of the camp ground, then hike north on the gravel trail (Flint Rock). Walk up a hill, then at the bottom you should see a Gator (ATV). Turn left off the trail, walk downhill about 75 yards to the new trail.

Blue Mound Trail Day 4/24/2010 - 8am!!!

Published by Bcbear under Uncategorized

The first few workdays of the season have been nothing short of incredible.  It wasn’t long ago that a “good” workday was anything above 5 people.  The definition of “good” has certainly changed for the better.  Just this past weekend at Cam-Rock there were 31 names officially on the sign in sheet!!!  That is nothing short of incredible.  The amazing thing to observe is the amount of work that is accomplished in a short time with that many volunteers.  To everybody that has come out to help, THANK YOU!!

On that note this coming weekend (4/24) is a big day for CORP at Blue Mound.  Our Blue Mound trail steward has been putting in crazy hours this winter rerouting trails around some of the wettest areas of the park.  What this means for the rider is that, when finished, we may be able to squeeze in another month of riding every year because we will have better built, better draining, and better riding trail.  It’s going to take a lot of hands to make this project happen and I encourage everybody who has Saturday morning free to come lend a hand.  CORP is a bit strapped for manpower this weekend as a handful of regulars won’t be available.  If you haven’t been to a workday this year (or ever) this is the one we need you at.  If you have been to workdays before or are a “regular” I have a special request for you.  My challenge is for eveybody planning to attend the workday to recruit one friend/neighbor/spouse that hasn’t helped in the past and bring them along for the fun.  Bring a pair of gloves, a snack, and some water and CORP will take care of the rest.  Meet at the park garage at 8am and the romp in the woods will begin from there.

Quarry Ridge Work Day, 4/10, 8 am

Published by bmmullen under Uncategorized

First work day of the year at Quarry Ridge - all are welcome to come lend a hand and help improve the trail system. We will start work on the new connector and top section of the Tunnel trail (last years new downhill trail). We may split off another group to do one or both of the following:
- Reroute at base of sandy climb
- Improvements to 3 sisters line (landing for the big drop, build up the berm and tabletop at the bottom of the line)

Hopefully we’ll see you on Saturday morning @ 8 am.
